In AUGENBLICK, the paintings of Daniel Christen painted in oil appear almost alive in the play of light and sound. A multimedia installation that touches and reveals the view into your own soul. We are in the middle of the development of the project and are very much looking forward to the exhibition in June 2026 at Galvanik Zug.
From 27. September to 18. October I had the unique opportunity to go on a Zen pilgerage to Japan together with the Japan experts Katharina and Paul Shepherd. In addition to visiting the Zen center Shinmeikutsu in the mountains not far from Tokyo - which Father Hugo Lassalle built in the 1970s - we meditated at the San'un Zendo in Kamakura, where Yamada Roshi taught Niklaus Brantschen, Paul Shepherd and Robert Aitken, among others. In addition to the friendliness of the Japanese, I was particularly fascinated by the contrast between tradition and modernity.
In the picturesque Val Mustair we explored the landscape around Fuldera for 4 days with oil paints and easels. So I was allowed to look over the shoulders of Françoise Nussbaumer to train her vision and to refine the painting technique. Thank you Françoise for your incredibly valuable tips and tricks.
Now it's time. I moved into the new studio in UntermĂĽli 5. I would like to thank my wife Anita for her great support.

Promotion Award Canton Zug
For the SoundSpace project, I received the Promotion Award 2025 of the Canton of Zug. This makes it possible to continue the research work on SoundSpace in order to develop further new concert formats and experiences.
It’s Almost Time. At the end of June, I will be handing over my company, Christen Visuelle Kommunikation, to my colleagues Susanne Egli and Diana Lischer. I will continue to work as a consultant for the new studio. Starting in July, I will move into my art space at Untermüli 5, right next door. I am very excited about the upcoming creative time.
SoundSpace was the unique multimedia live spectacle where classical music, art and technology merged. Thank you to all involved and to the 1000 visitors.
On August 16, 2024, we were able to present the research results of SoundSpace at the Chollerhalle in Zug to our sponsors and supporters. We are all excited and look forward to the concerts in January 2025. More…
We created a fascinating time journey over the Zytturm with classical music, water, light, laser, and video. "TikTak" Zytturm, our time machine, will be performed from July 3 – July 31, 2024, at the Zug lake basin on odd days.
The first ZugMagic took place from July 1 – 29, 2023, at the Rössliwiese. The Zug lake basin was transformed into a magical spectacle of water, light, laser, video, and sound. 80,000 people attended ZugMagic, and we were overwhelmed!
Stalactites in a new light and a barn on the Hell Ride – multimedia artist Daniel Christen invites you to a special multimedia spectacle! He shows you the Höllgrotten from the perspective of the light designer and lets the Staudenschäune disappear into the night sky at the end of the tour.
Sunlight in the garden, light refracted in water, or light as fire: everywhere light opens up our view of things. In my art, I do not describe the object but the focal point where the light is visible as light.
Daniel Christen and Philipp Lehmann guide members of the SGV through the city center of Zug. During the tour, we visited the art in architecture projects „FLYING PAPER“ „LIGNUM“ and „TASTXTOUR“ which we developed for our clients.
Based on the wall paintings of the well-known sacred artist Ferdinand Gehr, we created a special multimedia interpretation of VerhĂĽllt: projection, light, music, film, sound and voice gave new life to the patron saint Brother Klaus.
The view of our world through Google Earth is like looking at another planet. The distortions and disruptions caused by the digital generation of the location have a bizarre clarity that fascinates.
Zug celebrates its railway – and we’re right in the middle of it! For ZugFäscht 2022, we rebuilt Zug’s first train station – at the very spot where it once stood, near the Reformed Church. The team led by Daniel Christen, Michael van Orsouw, and Martin Riesen developed the station pavilion and outfitted the interior with a spectacular multimedia show.
At the AHV/IV office in Zug, the personalized leaves are being diligently attached to the wall. The 104 leaves were created by the employees of the AHV using the drawing editor.
When I look into a person's eyes, my thinking stops for a brief moment. I get a brief glimpse into the essential nature of all things, into the reality of our being. A painterly experiment begins to unfold.
The Höllgrotten in Baar shines in a new light. We developed a lighting concept that makes the fascinating rock formations newly experienceable with LEDs.
The art installation Feldheim 3 was developed and built in 1995 and is considered one of the first digital art in architecture projects in Switzerland. After 30 years, the wall, in connection with the renovation of the school building, is to be carefully restored with all digital components.
